Hip dysplasia in children

Hip dysplasia in a newborn means that there is less cartilage in the joint than it should be. Doctors in medical hospitals argue that if there is not enough hyaline cartilage, the joint moves badly.

Cause of hip dysplasia in babies

The real cause of the reduction of cartilage amount in the hip joint is in the muscles of the child. The problem muscles of the buttocks and hip create conditions for the development of hip dysplasia. The fact is that the cartilage that covers the head of the femur and the cotyloid cavity of the baby consists of cells. Cartilage cells in turn produce joint fluid which is needed to prevent femoral and pelvic bones from touching each other at rest and during movement (walking, running, jumping). The fluid acts like a shock-absorber in the vehicle.

The cartilage cell, as a living organism, takes nourishment, produces joint fluid and eliminates waste products. The blood brings oxygen and nourishment, the lymph takes waist products away. The blood moves due to the pressure of the heart, so the problem muscles cannot compress the blood vessel. The lymph moves due to the diaphragm, which moves when you inhale and exhale. For these reasons, there is no pressure in the lymphatic vessels. The problem muscles compress lymph vessels, which should take waste products away from the cartilage cells. As a result, the cartilage cell cannot eliminate its waste products and is full of them. Therefore, it loses its function of producing joint fluid and becomes dry. Ultrasound and MRI can show that at this point the hip joint of a baby becomes thinner or partially disappears.

Treatment of hip dysplasia in children
